Water disinfection

PHA (Pure Hypochlorous Acid) generated by the HidroBlue equipment, has a high oxidation power in organic matter that is measurable over kilometers and does not generate and minimizes unwanted byproducts such as Chlorates, Perchlorates, Trihalomethanes and Chlorides. The treatment does not alter the conductivity of the treated water and is compatible with biological control, not affecting treatments with macro and microelements and with Trichodermas and Mycorrhizae used in irrigation water.

A good disinfection that guarantees the oxidation of organic matter, eliminating harmful bacteria and fungi, reduces the contribution of pathogens to the crop, and also considerably improves the rhizosphere area by promoting the growth of the root and its absorbent hairs. On the other hand, it reduces the colonies of harmful fungi such as fusarium and thus provides a better balance.

Elimination of Biofilm and Obstructions

The application is well proven for this major current problem. Contaminated water, the use of waste water and the contribution of fertilizers added to high temperatures generate a large biofilm inside the pipes and filters, which, over time, not only increases the colonies of fungi and bacteria, but also generates large obstructions.

Treatments with PHA (Pure Hypochlorous Acid), appropriate for each crop and client, guarantee 99% effectiveness in the elimination of this biofilm. This is a treatment that reduces the biofilm day by day without causing obstructions or damage to the crop.

Environmental disinfection using PHA (Pure Hypochlorous Acid) guarantees an environment free of pathogens, oxidizing spores, bacteria and fungi. The design is adapted to each client based on extensive experience in environmental disinfection, avoiding risks to crops and making it fully compatible with biological control such as Bumblebees, Nesidiocoris, etc.

Reuse of leachate water

Water is a very limited resource that forces us to take all the necessary measures to make good use of it. The reuse of leachate together with the reuse of waste water is already an almost obligatory part of any agricultural facility.

But the use of these waters entails the great complexity of the high load of pathogens and other elements that can seriously harm crops. For this, a good disinfection is more than necessary, but without forgetting a good design when applying this disinfection, since with waters with a high contamination value, by-products such as chlorates and perchlorates can be generated. For this reason, applications and dosages of PHA (Pure Hypochlorous Acid) are designed according to each client and situation.

Invasive organisms

Excess of organic matter in any water, both surface and underground, the mixing of water between basins with contributions of organisms adapted to specific conditions, high temperatures and the modernization of hydraulic infrastructures can improve the optimal conditions for reproduction and lead to the proliferation of Invasive Organisms such as the Asian Clam, the Zebra Mussel and Bryozoans. These are the best-known ones and have been extensively studied by the different public administrations in charge of managing basins and water supplies for irrigation.

Currently there are many recommendations to reduce the effects of these organisms which are capable of obstructing large sections of pipes and blocking filters even in water under high pressure. Even so, these solutions are mostly physical cleaning solutions, non-stick paints and some shock treatments with conventional chemicals. All these actions are interesting and can help reduce the problem, but they do not solve it, so every year the user sees the colonies of organisms grow in all their facilities, increasing their negative effects.

After years of studying the case and carrying out tests with private companies in the sector and Hydrographic Confederations, a continuous application has been developed at a specific dose of PHA (Pure Hypochlorous Acid) that solves the problem in a simple way. By eliminating the biofilm, we eliminate the sustenance, accommodation and reproduction of the invading organisms. We also oxidize the larvae and the treatment also generates non-optimal conditions for the adult, which ends up breaking free or dying from starvation. This technique does not cause any damage to infrastructures, crops or produce the generation of unwanted by-products.

Root Increase and Soil Improvement

The continuous disinfection of water in the entire body of water considerably improves the rhizosphere area. A notable increase in absorbent hairs is observed, with a white root even in cold periods. The comparative increase with crops not disinfected with PHA (Pure Hypochlorous Acid) is visible and differentiating.

In addition, irrigation in the field with disinfected water reduces colonies of harmful fungi such as fusarium by 90%, being compatible with Mycorrhiza and Trichoderma treatments.

Eliminating Slime and Algae

Water with organic load, added to fertilizers and warm temperatures above 15º, generate life and therefore unicellular algae. In each irrigation these algae are deposited on all types of surfaces generating the well-known slime over the days.

Disinfection treatments using PHA (Pure Hypochlorous Acid) oxidize all types of algae, both unicellular and filamentous, preventing their reproduction on surfaces such as floors, alveolar trays, flower pots, walls, filters, etc.

The slime is the sustenance and shelter for bacteria and fungi. It is also for the preproduction of insects. By eliminating it, we drastically reduce the reproduction cycle.

Post-Harvest Treatments

The water it is used to wash fruit is often contaminated after contact with the harvest.

It is important to properly disinfect this water to avoid traceability of bacteria in the supply chain. On the other hand, there are toxicity limitations that are usually generated by conventional chemicals such as Chlorates and Perchlorates.

Disinfection of these ponds or washing in showers with water disinfected with PHA (Pure Hypochlorous Acid) improves the quality of the water and prevents toxicity in the disinfection process as long as the disinfection process is well calculated.

However, sometimes and due to the organic load and suspended solids, it is necessary to carry out a design including pretreatment processes composed of recirculation, filtration, flocculation, flotation to maintain water with an acceptable quality. This process allows us to maintain the water for weeks or months. There are cases of customers who only make two water changes per year with the consequent water savings for the company.
